Hard to get excited when my only appreciable rainfall comes after 200+ hours away
It comes in cycles! 10 years ago we were begging for the rain to stop! Downpours before the tropics and then Matthew! Like 20 inches of rain in a week or two, we’ve gone through droughts before that. Mother Nature doesn’t care about a happy medium. If you don’t like it the saying is wait 5 minutes! I want some rain too, our area desperately needs it but wanting doesn’t change a thing.Hard to get excited when my only appreciable rainfall comes after 200+ hours away
Yeah but this drought has been going on for 2 years now. We are down almost 30 inches since 2024It comes in cycles! 10 years ago we were begging for the rain to stop! Yep roughly along and east of US1 is been tough since sept 2024. I've had 1 AN month since thenYeah but this drought has been going on for 2 years now. We are down almost 30 inches since 2024
Yeah I'm a little confused how I'm in extreme drought up here and you aren't. I'm in a serious drought no doubt but I've definitely had more rain then your area. I do think my annual rainfall is more, so maybe based off of percentage departure from normal, not sure.Yep roughly along and east of US1 is been tough since sept 2024. I've had 1 AN month since then
Yeah this hasn't been your typical short term dry spell.Yep roughly along and east of US1 is been tough since sept 2024. I've had 1 AN month since then
After Debby and ptc 8 we actually were above normal in September 2024. After that though we went into a freefall on precip and it's been dry as a bone since then. It's worse here also because we have such sandy soil that it just soaks away so fast. Can't keep my grass alive at all right. Will probably have to do some re-seeding when the pattern really does break.Yeah I'm a little confused how I'm in extreme drought up here and you aren't. Not sure either, most lawns and fields are dormant or heading that way locally.Yeah I'm a little confused how I'm in extreme drought up here and you aren't. I should have known when I had 10+ in July August and sept of 2024 that it would go dryAfter Debby and ptc 8 we actually were above normal in September 2024. Looking back the switch from very wet to very dry was instant. Literally like a faucet being turned off. On top of that the rain we do get seems to come all at once. We get a 2 inch banger of thunderstorm then dry for 3 weeks straightNot sure either, most lawns and fields are dormant or heading that way locally.

It is weird to see my grass had just started greening up and now it's getting crunchy. Its honestly hard to keep up right. Watering about .33 every 3 days and still getting stress and dormancy
The EPS is better. And the GEFS is even better than that. And you get an additional inch or more on both after this.Usually the cut off for me is day 10. Anything after that is just fantasy land. This is at 240 hours and we are still dry. I get about a half inch after this so there is hope in fantasy land but we all know how unreliable a 300 hour gfs is.

That would be a good start yo working on the drought. Gonna have to fill a couple holes my dog has dug in the back yard or I'm gonna have a muddy swimming poolThe EPS is better. And the GEFS is even better than that. And you get an additional inch or more on both after this.

One of the few things the dog in my avatar does that I don't like is loves to dig holes. My back yard would look like a moonscape if I didn't keep an eye open. When we first got him, he found a corner of the living room to practice his digging techniques and dug up the carpet there. That would be a good start yo working on the drought. He's a big boy. My dog weighs around one hundred pounds but he looks like he could move some dirt.!This is Bolt, our GP, beautiful boy but those paws are efficient dirt movers! I filled in one hole that was 30" deep! I usually put some quickrete, dirt, his own poop (to deter digging in that spot again) and finish off with more dirt. At the rate I'm going eventually my yard will be all concrete about 18" below the surface

This is Blue. Her legs are as long as my arms and can get deep. Her paws are bigger than my hands and can't really move some dirt. This is Bolt, our GP, beautiful boy but those paws are efficient dirt movers! I filled in one hole that was 30" deep! That's a dog? You could put a saddle on her and charge kids for rides. That's a big girl you have there. This is Blue. Her legs are as long as my arms and can get deep. Her paws are bigger than my hands and can't really move some dirt.
EDIT to add a pic of her shovelsView attachment 195561

We adopted her back in January. Owners were in the military and being deployed to Germany and couldn't bring her with. I knew we were getting a great dane but man her size is absolutely ridiculous. Last time she stepped on scale at 18 months old she was 135lbs and she's 2 yrs old now. That's a dog? You could put a saddle on her and charge kids for rides. That's a big girl you have there.

No doubt Shaggy. Averaging a shower every two weeks for a long time now
