March 2026 - Winter or Spring?

Boy this heat out West is truly at crazy levels; never heard of anything like this for March; 90s and 100s widespread.

It is pretty crazy but apparently and sadly at least over here we hit 99 over 100 years ago and Dallas has hit 100 on Saturday also a long time ago in 1916

It was another impressively cold night although obviously not as cold as the prior night due to a not as chilly day yesterday. Macon had another freeze and parts of N FL almost did. I bet @Drizzle Snizzle in Americus at least came very close.

Phoenix had 102 yesterday, earliest 100+ on record by 8 days and that old record was right at 100, the previous hottest in all of March! The hottest in all of April there is 105. The next few days could come close to that and there’s a small chance even that could be reached or even exceeded!

What a March the US has had. Nothing boring about it! It’s been one of the most fascinating to me.

Yeah I just saw this. Crazy. I've always said March has some of our biggest snowstorms on record though plus 1993 from Alabama

March 19th is known both for record heat and record snowfall. On
March 19, 1907, the highest March temperature in Oklahoma City was
set when the temperature soared to 97 degrees, while March 19, 1924,
brought the third highest daily snowfall total to Oklahoma City with
11.3 inches.

It was 31 degrees at the house this morning just south of Raleigh near Lake Wheeler. This will probably be the last morning below freezing for at least the next five days. The Spring Equinox arrives tomorrow and I'm looking forward to longer days. I like to wake up with a little daylight peaking through the blinds. My wife, on the other hand, likes to wake up before the rooster crows. I've never been like that.

Phoenix hit 105 today. Not only is that a new record for the entire March, beating the 102 of yesterday which beat the old record of 100, it tied the 105 hottest on record in April!!
Hope that gets record heat out of the system, and we get a historically cool summer for a nice new record.

Summer time yet ?

Sure half the winter was 70 degrees anyway 🙄 I never thought we could be that warm all winter

It was literally saved from epic fail by one weekend. It's just crazy to think about still

On the other hand the last time it was this hot in March in the last 10 years both times the summers were pretty easy

But we gotta turn the rain back on or it won't matter

Wow. Yuma set the all time US March record at 110!
😱

😱

Thanks for posting this. This 110, which was recorded at Martinez Lake in Yuma county, is truly insane. Yuma even got to 106, which beats the old March record of 102! Records there go back all of the way to 1878.

Today, Yuma has hit at least 106 already!

Edit: As of 4PM MST, Yuma has hit at least 107, meaning hotter than yesterday and at least 5 hotter than the pre-2026 hottest of 102! Phoenix has hit at least 104.

We’re headed to Vegas on Sunday… packing lots of sunscreen and cool clothes

The new hottest on record in CA in March is 112, set today! That’s only 1 short of the April hottest in CA!!

Yuma’s hottest on record in March prior to 2026 was 102. Yesterday was 106 and today was 109!! The earliest 109+ prior to today was May 2nd (1947) when it hit 111!!

-Phoenix has set new (or tied) daily record highs 28 times during the last 365 days.

-94 of the 366 days have record highs there set in 2023-6 due mainly to CC but with UHI also being a factor although UHI is normally more of a factor for warm lows.

-There are a mere 3 record lows set since 1980!
