The UKMET definitely looks better this run, another one joins the ICON/ECMWF camp... GFS & long range NAM are really getting left in the dust by other NWP models (shocker...)

Webber, is the real problem with our NWP that we just don't have a good enough data collection network to feed the models?

With the new icon weather model we are starting to use. We will have a new saying. Instead of: I just got NAMed” It will be “I just got ICONed!!!” Lol
Finally starting to see some signs of a warm up for the area; maybe some thunder storms for some also. While differing, the GEFS and EPS aren't horribly off with some warmer weather potentially getting here not far from now.
I hope Columbia, SC can score one Wintry event around middle Feb and we can be done with this cold between that time.

If somebody has time at some point, what does "lee enhancement or lee side" mean? Been following along since the other forums and dont recall this...The simple version please if there is one. LOL Thanks ya'll.

Even better than 6z. Need a couple more good cycles from the NAM before I get excited. Need a little breathing room from what seems like the inevitable last minute bad trend from these meso models

Lol. I'm not one of the guilty ones luckily. Delta, 1300 and Webb all said the flow would allow more moisture to fill in. The question is why did the models take so long to figure it out?

That snow hole over NE GA on multiple models was driving people insane.
No doubt. It seems that hole quickly got filled once the models caught on.

I’m guilty but it’s ok. I never get mad over weather but I do get my hopes up all the time. My wife thinks I’m crazy, she says I need to just let it play out. Yea she is the crazy one! Haha

All part of the fun. I do find it a lot easier to be ambivalent about a relatively minor event like this than a major event like we had in December. We got shafted on the January ‘16 snow when we were expecting 4-6”. That one was a kick in the gut.

Probably the most guilty one here! #DryAirWillWin LOL. Glad that it is looking way too moist for any dry air. It's funny to watch myself say these things too. In reality, there is a good chance for snow up here, and after I looked at the soundings that confirmed that the dry air arrives after the system passes, and there is about a 12 hour window for snow here per the NAM. I think it's safe to say everyone from the southern part of ATL north gets snow east of the Savannah river.
