True story. I had some blowhard old fart on FB just say it was going to be a storm because the most accurate forecast is always the good ol Farmers Almanac!

True story, but that where I started my weather board journey. Back in the old days, the old farmers almanac had a weather forum that I read on all the time. This was prior to WWB or eastern.

I used to think the Old Farmer’s Almanac was the same thing as the Farmer’s Almanac but apparently they use two different proprietary weather forecasting “algorithms” and the “Old” incarnation was apparently the “fake” one idk
I'm not sure which is better, but us old southern farts used to read the Old Farmers Almanac all the time. The old farmers used to think it was the gospel...LOL

Yea I’ve just given up at this point lol I’m at a point where if AL can’t get anything then everyone gets a rain storm…
But hey at least Spring should be good for severe weather!

I think the storm thread from https://southernwx.com/community/threads/machine-learning-mauler-1-30-2-1.1440/unread should be changed to the carolina’s only snowstorm mauler so us western folks don’t get confused lol

I rarely get burned by a nw trend, so I hope it happens. I could care less about folks on I-95 scoring. They’ve had 100 storms this decade.

I'm going to have to start giving base reports if this keeps up
I'm meeting a friend from Tennessee in Charlotte on Saturday for the NBA game there on Saturday afternoon against the Spurs. I am a little concerned about this weekend's storm given I planned to drive down there from Chapel Hill on Saturday morning, spend the night there, and come back on Sunday afternoon. Already shelled out $350+ between the tickets and hotel room. I would bring up the possibility of this upcoming storm to him, but I think I'd look pretty crazy considering the official forecast is still for mostly sunny skies on Saturday, LOL.
EDIT: Looks like a small chance of snow has now been added to the grids for Charlotte and also for MBY. Wasn't true when I looked earlier, though. Still not sure a 30% chance of snow is very convincing, hah!

I think it's top 10 for me just based on the things that we may never see again in our lifetimes, meteorologically. There's a reason the professionals went gaga over our soundings.

That is a fair point. It was interesting to track and the fact we were seeing snow despite some of the soundings, etc. was something to behold. I'd probably feel a lot differently if I got 2"+ of sleet.

You and me both! The squall line of sleet was also interesting, haha (although I don't think it was as impressive as it was further west; it seemed to be weakening).

Thats the one skewing everything west of SC....lol
not top 5. but in terms of enjoyability it's genuinely my least favorite winter storm i've ever experienced and there's not a close second

Argue a wall. ENC is WELL above their climo these past few years. It’s been a northern stream dominant pattern since 2020 and pretty much the only areas of the SE to benefit are the eastern Carolina’s and the Gulf Coast.
