Misc General Banter Thread

I'm not sure it's possible to have a major winter storm around here without having mixed precip. I wish it wasn't that way, but it do be that way... 🎶

I’ve never felt so rug pulled in my life
I feel like the rug. Stomped on and all. Felt a sense of relief briefly cuz ice storms suck. Yet it still shows unpleasant ice storm for me.

I just built a new house. It’s all electric. Including a grinder pump for sewer. And the whole house generator is a this fall project. So I guess I’m still relieved that it’s a possible annoying day or 3 without power vs. weeks without thing? Hoping. Maybe? 🤷‍♂️

there was a large geomagnetic storm during some of these anomalous runs.

makes one think if the models/satellites/weather instruments went wonky.

teens and heavy freezing rain/snow? cmon' now
Hmmmm. The lock on to this event was before that solar storm hit the planet though. Right? So its effects would be…. Just as thing went wonky. Ok. Interesting. I guess we shall see.

Dawg, it might be time to think about taking the GFS out back and shooting it, and I hate to say it, but this dings opinion for the Euro for me as well because it was consistent on showing an ice storm as well for several runs.

At this point, if a winter weather run shows an ice storm in EC GA, it has to be called into question because we somehow keep slipping them, which is fine by me.

I’m gonna be interested to see how CJ walks this one back after storm of the century talk. Should be an interesting 2-3 days. These models need to be investigated.

To be fair, the models led them astray right up until 2 days before the event. I don't really blame the METs. I do blame models for being less reliable than usual.

To be really, really fair, it should be past the point in time where they are labeled a failure before they are labeled a failure. Not to say that won't happen. I don't intend that in a snarky way either.

Why would he walk it back? Worst case it’s a catastrophic ice storm. Best case we get mostly sleet.

2-3 inches liquid is coming.

You have not slipped this one yet

I think everything may meet in the middle of the gfs and euro. Front end thump in he piedmont 2-4 inches then a ton of sleet. Not buying a ton of zr

See a lot of youngins getting their first taste of true heart ache over the last 18 hours. Once you have been model hugging for 20+ years you learn to not live and die over each model run. Have a beer fellas this is par for the course.

However, calling the storm a bust 3 days before it is even supposed to happen…. That’s a new one though 🤣
