Us oldies on here did for half our lives. Just without the tech part. Shows me, man will never be able to accurately 100% be able to conquer forecasting the wx , with 100% accuracy. Tech isnt absolute, perfect. Never will be .
 
Euro holding serve, I would not doubt what it’s putting out. It’s been right more times than not for snow storms in my area. I eventually see the GFS moving that way…. Maybe I’m wrong but I would not bet against the Euro.
 
Spann this morning lol. Guy is a legend and might be right but he’s barely giving it any real thought

Looking at my NWS forecast and discussion, nothing's changed overnight. I've seen enough, GFS is out to lunch imo as usual. Rain/snow will be to the east, depending on the cold making it through which per Webb and per no high to the north, is a question mark. Matches the AI's pretty well.

Euro is a mid to long range model lol. Not a high resolution model. It’s often underestimated precip in the past. A professional met calling the euro a high resolution model cracks me up. High resolution models are short range models

Eh idk. I hate to bet against the euro but the rdps and icon made major adjustments west. Also the 6z UKIE looked a little more juiced to me at the end of the run. Will be interesting for sure

We’ve seen the euro win so many times in these setups. Obviously I’m a novice but I’ve seen this play out so many times. Hard to bet against it, especially in our area.
 
Any Pivotal subscribers having issues with logging in? I can log in on my phone but when I try on the computer it still takes me to the buy a subscription page. I've emailed them twice with no response, really frustrating to not have access to data you pay for. I thought it might be a Verizon issue from yesterday, but supposedly that's been resolved. Was curious if it is an isolated incident

The NAM was the pretty much the only model that nailed mby for December 2017. Set up seems pretty close,, cheers fellas we have something to track.
 
Seeing a lot of discourse from both sides of the pendulum. Which model ends up caving, Euro or GFS?
 
Exciting battle between the Euro and drunk uncle. At this point, I think we will likely need the short range models for a decent idea.

I date back to the days when the weatherman, Nash Roberts, used a dry-erase board to draw weather maps. Not knowing and watching wild weather unfold without knowing is fun!

Yes it was much more of a crap shoot..moving stick on LP's and arctic front boundaries around on a whiteboard.
 
I get the whole EURO ect…. But my god it’s sickening the suckage people do to that model. Again like I said yesterday no one even considers anything else why are we even running anything else daily? Just have the EURO as the world model and be done with it. I’ve said it 500K times, it’s only annoying bc Mets will hug it in this scenario but if was EURO amped and GFS Dry they’d still hug it just bc it feels comfortable. How bout we just go back to Pencil and paper and looking and surface charts and use a freaking compass and barometer or some . EURO will run twice a day if you miss it you miss it, no other model exist. Stop creating this A.I BS too …. EURO and nothing else bc literally nothing else gets a second look from anyone that matters

Nah. That's because too many freeloaders like me are refreshing every few minutes.

I was struggling a little bit to use free pivotal on my mobile devices yesterday. Figured it out a little bit late night/early morning, but it wasn't fun.

I also can't use the cod.edu website on mobile either for some reason. Work computer or my laptop only.

Let me preface …. None of the Mets here fit this…. EVERYONE of them is open and discussion about any scenario and that’s appreciated. My issue is like Spann “The Reliable European Model” dude eat …. That’s literally just manipulation and saying that bc you know 98% of people reading that think you’re some god and and don’t know the difference anyway so you type that and think ohhh well daddy knows best type of deal. Idk just not fond of even mentioning another scenario when you know that info is there, even Brad shows EVERYTHING and then gives his opinion. The gatekeeping and manipulation of the situation to fit his forecast is the annoying part.

Not a personal attack by the way, just stating it rubs me the wrong way. Again, I think he’s prob a good guy and a good Met but good lord man don’t take advantage of people’s ignorance of not knowing all the info, especially when they’re gonna believe every word you utter anyway

You said worked on phone, I think. Try clearing web data cache on your computer?
 
This was Jan 28, 2014 forecast from the NWS and Spann. Just a friendly reminder to those weary of a NW trend. This busted horribly and all models were missing.

What I hate is someone showing the EPS snowfall probabilities for 5 days out that shows zero for a specific area. And they act like that is the end of the discussion.

The shortwave could tilt on the next run and bring 50% probabilities to the same area. It means nothing and is a really dumb thing to nail a forecast to.

0 probabilities on a 5 day ensemble run do NOT mean a 0% chance of anything.
