Misc General Banter Thread

IDK. To this time frame, the EURO looks perhaps a touch better than 6Z. In any case, I hope to see some marked positive changes by 00Z. If not, at 72 hrs out, we're likely cooked.

To me none of these two events ever looked promising. Too much needed to go exactly right. Other than those good looking maps Friday morning this has been meh.

I don’t feel it for both systems. Maybe if I feel that way it will come back.

Just not our winter this year guys and yes i know it’s only January but before we know it time want be on our side. I guess at least we got to track some fantasy storms oh well

I think it’s really time after this winter is over to really sit back and have a discussion on is this really the new normal. Not just a phase or a dry spell but could this really be how it is from now on? We could be very well looking at the end of winter weather as we know it for a lot of us. Now sure something random will eventually pop up one of these years again and give us a few inches. But I think things are changing for the worst.

Its La Nina Stevo. I 100% guarantee you that. They aren't all warm, they aren't all dry, but getting one that's not at least one or the other is hard. I hate them with a passion. I don't think the way its been for the last 4 years is the new normal. But I certainly don't believe we'll ever see anything like we used to see in our childhood either. And anyone saying this isn't at least partially to blame for the snowfall averages falling off the cliff are lying to themselves.Screenshot_20260111_132058_Gallery.jpg

It's crazy how fast time goes by. Seems like not long ago it was Thanksgiving and now it's already Mid-January.
Yep. Tick tock tick tock. Winters are short here. Looking like it's already down to a 2 to 3 week window from the end of January until mid Feb. And thats if we're lucky. We're cooked next week and weekend. Doesn't matter how cold it gets we can't buy precip

Yeah that's why I laugh at people who say it's only January, as if Winter lasts until April in the south.

Exactly. Been a long time since Feb produced at all but even when it did it was early in the month. Been at least 17 years now since anything noteworthy after say Feb 20th. Last I can recall was March 2009

The thing that has sucked about the last few winters to me is the fact we've had these patterns that are 2/3rds-3/4ths of what we need but we've never really hit. I'm not sure if it is the lack of atlantic blocking, the pv lobes in the Hudson bay/lakes region, or the lack of high amplitude tall pacific ridging but as a whole the patterns have been fast with the trough axis too far east.

You're not wrong! We get this and that perfect for great analogs but always missing a fine detail. It really do suck but our time is coming...hopefully in my lifetime...lol

Could it just be PDO? We’ve been on one side since like 98
