Misc General Banter Thread

So the second time I spent anytime in Avery County, NC was right after the Blizzard of 96, and I don't recall the exact amount of snow they had there as it varied with location, but it was a lot. My friend had just moved there with his parents, we were maybe 14 at the time, but behind his house was a cleared mountain with a Frasier Fir farm for Christmas trees. After a few days the snow was good and wet, we decided to start at the top of this mountain/hill (probably 3-400') and make the largest snowball we could. By the time we couldn't push this thing anymore it was about 6' in diameter. Someone has a polaroid of it, and I'm going to try and find it.

Only 11 days away...again. GFS loves to show good looking winter storms 10 or more days out.
Actually, it has been extremely stingy with fantasy storms this year. We're starting to see a lot of noise around that time frame across several model suites.

True. The models have been showing a threat for that period off and on for a while now. Hope this one is legit. They were doing the same a few days back for the 1/4 to 1/6 period and that went away. Hopefully we're not just seeing them continue to kick the can down the road.

We are literally living in a time where it’s smartest to look at the warmest possible model. Yes even if it’s the GFS. Absolutely wild how things trended toward the GFS. Just incredible

We’ve just had an incredibly cold December and multiple winter weather threats. The GFS is not the top performing model and flops around like a fish out of water.

Go outside, it’s cold! Going with the warmest model makes no sense. Stop whining.

I know I just thought that’s what the banter thread was for lol

Yall confuse me on here. Other moderators told me comments like that belong on the banter thread and not the main thread lol I’ll just not post anywhere

If you post nonsense, it’s going to be called out. You can whine and complain in here, but saying the warmest model will verify or that models are trending to the GFS is not correct and can be confusing to less experienced people here.

FWIW the AIGFS was pretty close. A tiny bit too warm for NC Areas but a close call for sure

I don’t really like that both the GFS and the EURO were bad last night. I’m fine if the GFS is bad but don’t give me both. Hopefully just a blip.

Find the positives! We can work with this even though it is the end of the GFS. One thing I’ve noticed is the cold isn’t too far away on all modeling. One little change and we mean business . Time to be positive!

The EPS still looks decent to me. I mean it's never looked that great anywhere even out here. Never more than a couple members skewing it
