It's definitely a two-edged sword. The cold over this way is doing its part to keep some of the invasive species in check. We had a 0 degree night in January 2018 and several nights below 10 these past two winters which really helps with some of the imported and invasive Asian plants.

It was pretty rough to continually find my hives dead last winter but the hives are in much better health this year.
I’m a cold and snow lover so I don’t mind the cold usually. Last January was impressive and combined with the back ground issues just caused problems. It’s always a double edged sword with animals especially honeybees. To much cold and they can starve to little cold so they become active then they may stave. Always best to have it a little bit cold and a little warm

I have a running conversation there where I just plug in comments about Aleutian Ridges and bridging and NAO and MJO and all this other stuff and it does a really great job of teaching what it all is and what the poster is saying, with maps and visualizations and stuff too… AI is pretty awful sometimes but for stuff like this it’s a wonderful tool

I've said this a couple times, And I think it would solve a lot of issues. But I can tell you it will never happen. It feels that way cause 95% of those in this SE group is NC

I just don’t get it. Do people in NC follow the weather more than people on other states ? There seems to be a disproportionate amount of weather weenies in NC.

i mean yeah what does alabama/atl care if i am musing about trying to weak wedge our way to sub 60 on christmas day. probably a good call for that sort of not super impactful stuff but overall pattern disc you just have to know that most are going to have a bias toward their backyard even if they don't obviously post like that
