Wintry 12/4-6 Winter Weather Potential

35 and rain here in N. Foothills. This makes three winter weather advisories I’ve had this winter and I haven’t seen a snowflake yet. Lol

I'd think you'd be seeing some flakes up there by now. I'm seeing about a 60/40 split of rain/flurries down here at 36/34 west of Winston. Everything is of course melting on the ground with about 0.12" of precip so far tonight.

I got very light rain, 35 NOT a flake I can tell, also had 0.12" so far, and it's about over per radar. WHAT A BUST!!!

You can’t make this stuff up, I’m living in a warm bubble. Lol

36/34 west of Winston and seeing a handful of ice pellets on the deck. After a couple hours of mix it looks like the moisture is drying up on radar. Bucket shows 0.19" precip so far tonight which is pretty close to expected so far. Looks like the moisture came in early and is leaving early as usual and the temps didn't drop enough to support any meaningful event. It's the first week of December so it goes. Take care all.

Snowing nicely this AM in DC; of course as a North Carolinian it makes sense my first flakes of the season are out of town lol. Ohhhhh to be a snow lover in central NC, our struggle is so real. Fingers crossed for Monday to turn into something though!

for now, i like a light, messy wintry preview for the northwest foothills and high country (and perhaps some of the northern tier of central nc). beyond that i am not ready to say yes

but also, we've got the rest of the work week worth of model runs to get through, and there's easily still fail modes with this bleh setup and could result in even the northwestiest of foothills receiving nada

well, looks like a light mess for the high country verified, but oof womp for most in the foothills. seems like alleghany county was the only foothill county to verify anything more than a trace

Great call, I had a little mix of rain, sleet, and snow 5 or 6 fatties. lol, I'm currently 33 with drizzle! Whale of an event.

It’s funny that we are decommissioning the one model that keeps hitting home runs in these scenarios - the NAM (Mitch’s favorite model haha)
I relied heavily on the NAM in my videos the last two days. I'm glad I did!

Hey. I'm probably headed your way. Tuesday. So how about? Putting down a nice white blanket in your area before I get there. So I'll have something pretty to look at. lol
We tried, it's called brine 😅😅

When? First of the year?

IDK if I can make it through a winter without getting NAM'd. :)

First they take away the ETA, now the NAM.

Im glad you got a few flakes. I rode up to the Linville Gorge early this morning. Nothing but ice. 4000ft couldn't even save me lol
Dang, I finally saw my first flakes of this winter. Here's hoping for many more opportunities for both of us before March rolls around.
