Chicago is well overdue for an event of this magnitude. Our biggest snow event last year was less than 3 inches.

Which is in no way shape or form a winter storm here
With 8” a possibility per some models at Chicago, this would have a chance to be their heaviest Dec snowstorm in 25 years!
Everyone is saying it’s “ early” for a decent snow !
But it snows a good bit in October, about every other year. This storm could easily be top 1 or 2 for storms I’ve seen since being in Iowa! Big snows are rare! Saw back to back 10” snows in ‘24 I believe it was. Nex biggest was 8”, so fairly rare air! Also looking ahead at more chances and the cold locked in, should be able to get a white Christmas, hopefully!
