Misc General Banter Thread

Also worth nothing that solar activity is about to pick up over the next week with a couple regions returning that have been producing several big farsided coronal mass ejections. Looking promising for Aurora making a return, old region 4262 could be quite large IMG_9393.jpeg

Lots of blasting going off on the far side.

We need a short, simplistic, feet-on-the-ground version of the index correlation discussion, like X = GOOD or BAD (where GOOD = cold and snow and BAD = warm and not snow/ice).

E.g. Record -IOD = BAD or

Record -IOD + front-loaded weak east-based NINA + weak early winter SPV + Solar Max + strong -QBO + -PDO + +AMO + some Rossby wave stuff + a walker cell + mega MT torque + atmospheric footprint from Hunga Tonga eruption = BAD

Something like that.

To add to what Webb just posted for us, I read this at another board about the strong -IOD:

A strongly negative phase of the IOD increases tropical convection, enhancing it on the maritime continent with strong WWB, while a negative ENSO with colder SST over the central Pacific (La Nina CP) favors strong EWB on the international date line (180°).

Me trying to figure out if Webbs posts today are good for cold and snow this winter.

I'm glad I'm not the only one... I mean there were a couple things that looked good but that doesn't even guarantee anything

I think some were good and some were bad, so I think they cancelled each other out, like a round of cornhole.

I dunno it's just for me like everything last year just happened... Even the stuff in January during the best pattern it just happened out of nowhere so I'm like whatever 🤣 I don't wanna waste the pattern too early but I feel like it'll happen eventually I guess

Maybe you can fall back and we just stay the same next time!

Haha I mean I totally see why we switch as much as it sucks. The Eastern edge of the time zones like Alabama get really screwed in these

Alabama should go to eastern time 🤣 🤣 🤣

I think there should be an overhaul of all the time zones it's not necessarily all East or West it has a lot to do with North to the South as well.

3k nam is not good for me today and overnight. Went back and looked at last years deficit for my area and it was more than 7 inches and we are 12 down for this year.

This was 2024

Been working on my map making, trying to elevate it this year. Any tips ? View attachment 175936
Your maps look great. Maybe consider adding in %confidence and where you think the booms or busts may be. I’m pretty sure you do that in your write ups, but some folks are only going to look at the map, especially on social media.
