Any idea what type of cat this is ? Was thinking channel but has no black spots, sort of looks like a blue cat as well. Perhaps a hybrid ? View attachment 172964
Could be a small blue, but I’m 80% sure with the forked tail, it’s a channel without spots

That's a channel cat. It doesn't have any spots but sometimes that is the case with channel cats, particularly the younger ones.

You had better post a picture of those things in a pan being fried or we may have to reach through the screen and slap you!

Sorry Folks , Not able to get out the house & over too the pier/Beach, or take the John Boat out AT ALL for outdoor activities.
Reason being, remember I'm a amputee..

I've been fighting INFECTION in My stub, between (almost) flesh eating crap My bone was infected, thus Doctors Orders too, STAY OUT & AWAY from the water(s)! AND NO yard work, especially for the chickens I have..
Turns out My bone inside was infected & they, (the Doc) had to take abit off, about 2 inches..

Heres a before & After pic.. GRAPHIC!

That's a tough break SENC! My prayers are with you and I wish you a speedy recovery.

By the way, I'm headed to Topsail to do something I haven't tried in a few years. I'm going pier fishing tomorrow at either the Seaview or the Jolly Roger and I'm looking forward to it. Topsail is the closest beach to my home in Wake County and it isn't too touristy like many of the beaches along the North Carolina coast are getting. It would be nice to bring home a cooler full of fish but I'm not betting on that happening.

Unfortunely the CME impacted earlier then expected. It's not looking favorable for aurora lights tonight.

My trip to the Jolly Roger fishing pier at Topsail on Saturday went well as far as the number of fish that were caught but the size of the fish was a different story. I caught close to fifty fish but I ended up throwing back most of them back. I caught some spots, mullet, croakers and the smallest bluefish I've ever caught. I went down there based on the pier reports advertising a bluefish run but no one had any luck with the gotcha plugs including me. Earlier in the morning before I arrived someone snagged a tarpon that weight around 150 pounds. He landed it after a one and a half hour fight on the beach. The king mackerel fishing was dead as it could be.

I haven’t fished in 2 years, was an avid bass angler , fishing many tournaments and out on the water any time I could be. I also loved salt water fishing. The state has it wrong with the flounder deal. By far the best tasting fish you can catch inshore/offshore. I might get a charter this year in hopes of some Mahi and Wahoo! Love those as well. I was able to golf for the first time this year, today, and broke 90!

Johnnie mercer pier in wrightsville Beach has been having good mor ing runs of blues and Spanish. Was there mid April and a few of us ran off 45 blues in about 2 hours.

Ever since I had first heard of the Johnnie Mercer pier ~30 years ago, I had always thought it was named after Johnny Mercer, the very well-known lyricist (song examples “Moon River”, “Summer Wind”), born right here. After reading your post, I became curious why a pier in NC was named after him. I found out quickly that a fisherman named Johnnie Mercer bought it in 1939 and then renamed it after himself! I learn something new about every day:

@weather bubba , shoulda stopped by the house, coulda gave ya a "guided" trip, targeting redfish, black drum/Sheepshead/Sea Trout. along with clamming..
I really like Jolly Rodger, buuuut, the end is too shallow for kingin, though it is quite the Tarpon pier..
Seaview is the BEST pier on Topsail, IMOP..

The next time I head that way, I might take you up on that. We had a good time even though we didn't catch any big fish. Speckled trout would be right up my alley. I like to catch and eat them more than flounder.

Goofy story because why not...

My dad tried to take me fishing when I was very young and I nearly took out my eyeball when I tried to cast a line.

So...I never actually learned how to fish because of my clumsiness. I like the outdoors, but I don't hunt or fish.

Something similar happened to my stepdaughter. When I was dating her mother years ago I took both of them pond fishing and she got a fishhook caught in her scalp. Since then, my stepdaughter has never had any interest in fishing. I am going to see if I can get both of my granddaughters interested in fishing without anything like that happening again.

That's bad but I have it beat. Literally just 2 days I got a 1 ought circle hook stuck in my lip

I've hooked myself in the forehead which hurt pretty bad. On our trip to Maine last summer I looked down at our dock to see my son with a Rapala buried in his shin. The fishing line trick worked like a champ and he was back to fishing in no time.

The fishing like trick is awesome and works more often than not. Doesn't work with circle hooks. I was gonna try the other day but the lip is so soft I was afraid I'd tear it getting the circle hook out.
