Pattern -NAprilO

Euro AI and GFS are both showing some sort of large cutoff low towards the end of the run.
It is not on the regular Euro though and is a long way off. Hopefully the other 2 are right because after tomorrow it would be fairly dry for a while I think. I really believe we are headed for a 1986 or 1993 repeat here in the southeast. The heat and drought made national headlines both years, especially 1986.

I literally planted a maple tree and new plants in my garden today. Are they about to get ruined by the storms coming this way?

Rain rates are absolutely absurd tonight. Almost 2 inches and rates peaked at 5.6" /hr
Total deluge here. We were at the Alison Kraus & Union Station show at Chastain amphitheater. I looked at my radar around 9:15 and told my wife “we have to go. Now.”

She was not happy with me. 15 minutes later she was VERY happy with me 😁

One of the best parts of being a Weather nut lol

I'm holding out hope for anything man. We picked up .05" today and were the lucky ones at the house. Most places were dry again. Friday was 2 weeks since any measurable rain aside from a couple isolated places that got a pop-up. I keep stressing it that at least one insurer is at risk of insolvency by the end of this year if we don't get back into something resembling normal rainfall. Doesn't even need to "break" the drought, we just need to get out of this pattern of rain then 2-4 weeks of bone dry/sunny weather that's been going on since 2021. We can't irrigate ourselves out of this.

Agreed. I had 0.1" during this last "wet" spell. No chance of rain for another week.

Forecast for this past week had rain chances almost every day, got zilch. It's gone bone dry quick
I remember when the eps mean was 2-3 inches across the state this week. Pattern sucks going forward on the rain side unless we can hit that cutoff the models had hinted at from time to time

I know we aren’t suppose to talk about extremes but we are bone dry. Let it rain now!!
No reason not to talk about it. This portion of the growing season is critical. One year isn’t make or break but we’re talking potentially 4 of the last 5 seasons experiencing widespread loss due to drought. The insurance market is stressed this year and that doesn’t even begin to get into reduced funding from the government.

At least it’s not too hot over the next week which should delay the inevitable water restrictions if the drought doesn’t break.

We only need about 3 inches here for the wettest April on record and it appears we're gonna have another training flood setup before Wednesday night
