This has 6+ inches written all over it for High Knob in Wise County with 3-4 from 2k-3k feet. This is the snowiest part of Virginia. Wise averages 46 inches per year and High Knob is closer to 90 for an average.

Yes there was, there was absolutely
a Winter Storm Warning in place.
no way! the official forecast issued at 5 pm was rain mixing with or possibly changing to snow with little or no accumulations expected . at least that is what the weather radio said.

I know models are much better now, but there was no winter weather advisory,(travelers' advisory then) , no winter storm watches when the snow began to fall in Birmingham march 12,1993 ...good times!!
Not true.. we were under a winter storm watch. North of a line from Blount/Walker county north were under a WS Warning. First few minutes of this video show the weather that morning.

I love these clips, Dan Satterfield stated at .21 sec mark a winter storm warning north of bham.

Someone drive their car up to newfound gap Saturday. They’re going to get walloped.

Lol good luck getting on the parkway there going to be closed. I’m going to Maggie maybe go to soco gap 4300ft. But might consider going to border if I don’t see anything in Maggie or soco. Hopefully enough moisture gets over the border to lay a inch or two in Maggie

Anyone have the better maps for gfs? The weather bell ones

A inch or two would be plenty and a success. Doesn’t have to be a half a foot lol. But want to see one last snow. Best way to say good bye to winter is by enjoying snow one last time.

I stand corrected! I did not remember that thank you for the video! It's tough gettin old!
From what I’ve seen on those James Spann clips, areas further south in Alabama like Montgomery and Mobile were not under any sort of advisory until the last minute.

It’s weird the NWS went down to .6 for my area at 4 thought they would have gone up since this morning. (On the graphical forecast.)

This is true...I was in college at Troy St. and we were just expecting a possible changeover to sleet and a slight dusting overnight. We ended up with Thunder Snow and around 5 inches. Best weather event ever.

I’m wouldn’t trust these maps in the least. This type of setup will leave you weeping 90% of the time.
I fully realize those maps are awful but it’s all I have access to. I would imagine the weather bell maps are around a .5-.75 mean which is still pretty dang good.

I also fully agree with the setup, but it’s almost mid March and I won’t be upset with a bust. It’s certainly something to watch.
