I really hope not, he's done a lot of stupid things already. Putin is a bit unhinged though even if he's not completely insane.
I dont think he is unhinged at all. He screwed up. Was Bush unhinged when he invaded Iraq? He screwed up. The question now is does Putin try to hold onto power in Russia? Will the military politely ask him to resign? Will some of the military support him? Will the Czars return? OK, that last one might not happen.

Looking at it totally from Putins POV history has been unkind to Russia when it comes to invasions from the west. And while i understand the hatred Ukrainians have for Marxist socialism there is no doubt many Ukrainians willingly helped the Nazi's exterminate Jews. I have personal reasons why i dont particularly like Russians or Ukrainians. Im just glad the war ended quickly. We need to be careful though, until the communist/non communist authoritarians are eradicated from Russia there will be furture problems.

No he's not. Some of these posts act like he's completely insane and has no control over his actions. He is not going to launch nuclear weapons. Unless someone attacks him in a nuclear fashion, he's not going to send a radioactive cloud over Europe and Asia.
To be fair you were just saying a week ago that Putin wouldn’t invade. I get where you’re coming from though I truly doubt that Putin is that incompetent, at least I’d hope so.

Community believes Putin has 10-14 days before the geopolitical fallout will be at an inflection point. Tomorrow will be a very bloody day for the ruble , meeting with Oligarchs was centered around financial implications and ability to enhance defense manufacturing capabilities which would take 6 months.

General dismay from the community in Russia’s ability to execute the operation. Significant logistical issues, undersupplied, underfunded and fundamental disfunction executing based on modern war doctrine. They lack the ability to fight at night like one would expect from a super power and modern fighting force.

I have seen a lot of bizzare things from the Russian military over the last few days. Really bizzare....

I saw some speculation that Russia's central bank may be in serious trouble with the sanctions they may be put under.

Would fit in with Putin probably has 10-14 days to get this done before there are serious economic issues in Russia if so.

And let's say they do get it done and the sanctions are kept in place. How are they going to be able to keep Kyiv? The puppet government wouldn't be recognized, and they're going to run out of the funds that they need.

Looks like Kyiv may soon be threatened from the east. Russian forces have made substantial progress from that direction over the last day.

I wish we would stop bringing up nuclear weapons. They’re not going to be used. Nuclear weapons are only used in a last resort if your country has been targeted by them or you’re getting invaded. One, the radioactive fallout would affect the western Russian atmosphere and cities and be just as harmful to the Russian people as it would be to Ukraine. The world is getting a first hand look that Russia isn’t some powerful military force like they were in WW2. They’re lucky enough to have the 2nd most nuclear weapons of any other country but that’s where it stops. From a typical arsenal standpoint, they’re not even in the same atmosphere as the United States or even England for that matter. Russia is showing us that if push came to shove, we would probably clear them off the map fairly quickly and easily.

It's hard not to talk about nukes when Putin is clearly threatening them. It's a valid discussion, even if they are extremely unlikely to be used. That, and we are being told that this is not the same Putin we have known in the past.

Also to go with this, American Intel was said to believed something was wrong with Putin mentally. I think it was Marco Rubio who posted it. I was just throwing out what is a crazy scenario that a man with his back against the wall might enact.

I've found stories of Putin possibly having Parkinson's or Cancer going back to 2015.

I guess Sweden got the Russian memo about military and political implications towards the Nordics if they move towards NATO. This is huge, Sweden was largely neutral during the Cold War.

You gotta love it, this is Europe telling Putin that this kinda ---- is not gonna fly and the reception he got in the Ukraine is pretty much what he can expect everywhere he tries to take. Russia is going to have to go big here if they wanna positive result in Ukraine and that will only further solidify the resolve of Europe.
