How much do you like Freezing Rain?

Just as with any other form of wild weather, I'm in awe of big ice storms. The only form of winter weather I despise is sleet because it robs the potential for either snow or freezing rain.

Tornados suck. Hurricanes rule.

Sleet, the loudest precip, is absolutely awesome. And it has the best staying power as a bonus. It robs snow of height but not of frozen water content. And it accumulates much better than ZR!

Hurricanes suck, especially when they’re anywhere near MBY. Stay away! We need a quiet season for a change. I’m hoping for a quiet surprise this season.

To me one of the best storms to experience was that February 12-13, 2014 storm. First of all it came in as I already had 2 inches of snow on the ground from the day before. Then I got to experience 3 hours of at times very intense snowfall rates during the day that gave me 4 inches, then 8 hours of moderate to heavy sleet, followed by about 8 hours of light freezing rain/drizzle to establish a 6 inch thick glacier in my yard that got topped off by another 3 inches of snow from the ULL...that stayed on the ground for days despite temperatures getting back to the 50s a couple days later. I had snow on the shady side of my yard for at least 2 weeks after that storm

Yeah, that was the storm that made me despise freezing rain. We got 2" of sleet and almost an inch of freezing rain. The power was off for 4 days. Pine trees were breaking all around my house sounding like shotgun blasts all night and scaring my kids. We never knew if the next tree was going to fall on our house. My daughter even hates snow now because of that storm.
