Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

My car doesn’t have dents yet! Another weather fail!
 
Enhanced risk failed as severe weather watch didn’t even include parts of the enhanced. Next time I will just leave my guard down and continue life as normal.
 
Already had an EF2 hit 2 years ago so I should have known not to expect anything. They don’t hit twice.

It takes the skies quite a bit of time to heal from an EF2! Glad it didn’t hit bojangles!
 
I don't think I can watch the game tonight. Still not over that loss.... just feel like we should be playing
 
My roof is still in one piece from super outbreak the 3rd! 3 rounds of rain, 4 claps of thunder, .42 inches of rain, it was quite the apocalypse! ?

It's still several days away and could change, but in terms of timing, Palm Sunday is also looking to be uneventful for us locally.

EDIT: The latest GFS (00z) was a huge step in the right direction though.
 
All this anticipated rainfall for central NC and all I got was some moderate rainfall. Was hoping to knock some pollen down the drain, but just wasn't heavy enough. This was lawn & garden type of rain. Light and brief.

That was not a good game. It was close, but that doesn't make it a good game. The first half was the ugliest version of college basketball possible. I quit watching at halftime. The style of ball UVA plays is awful if you are fan of basketball, unless you want to go back to using the peach basket.

Going to do research on how old mobile homes and air conditioning units create micro-climates in neighborhoods...think summer storms...temperature...instability...and maybe more?

I'm not sure there is any correlation between these. Air units produce very little air differences and they are also so low to the ground they likely have no impact directly on thunderstorms. Mobile homes? No clue how they even do anything more than a typical structure would. There is some debate about air units and overall climate I believe but it's likely in the similar class as what cars do but at a much lower impact. I am almost certain that there will be no impact on the overall instability or temp.

A mobile home by itself will influence the nearby space very little. But a collection of mobile homes, say, a mobile home park? Well that's a different beast altogether. The differential heating caused by the rectangular inversion atop the cooler crawl space/open-air foundation signature effectively exerts a localize "bending" of the lower troposphere which, in turn, influences the angular momentum of the surrounding atmosphere enough to produce a horizontal gradient to the ambient wind field. This works in concert with the background flow to create a local instability maximum and acts as a vacuum of sorts which will tend to "draw in" nearby convection. When shear is present, storm relative helicity is augmented and rotation can more easily be achieved. The end result is that larger trailer parks influence the atmosphere in a way that is both attractive to thunderstorm activity and also conducive to tornado development. It plays no small role in the fact that so many of them are struck by tornadoes.
