Misc 2018 Banter & Venting Thread

Maybe in Atlanta, but there was plenty of winter weather in other parts of the southeast in January, March and even April of last winter.
This was especially true in central/eastern NC which did not get any measurable snow from the December 2017 system. Our winter was meh overall before Christmas. We had an active early-mid January with two winter storms and a week of subfreezing temperatures, including our coldest temperature in over a decade (4 degrees F).

This year, our temperatures have only been slightly below average, but we already have exceeded our average total snowfall for the winter. If we get another winter storm and reach the single digits once I would consider this winter a huge success.

Just read the December thread. Glad I've already punted.

You’d think lessons would have been learned from past Decembers. However, cliff drive continues to happen every December around this time.

JBs Saturday summary pretty much goes hand by hand with Web. If we can just survive until mid to late January we ALL have a better then ever chance to have a true winter to remember.
But the thing is, at least in Atlanta, by the time you get to late January you have maybe 2-3 weeks before spring sets in unless you get one of those very rare late Feb or March storms. I have always considered Feb 15 the cutoff date for winter along the I-20 corridor.

February and March storms are normal around here, I feel like my area always has a good 4-6 weeks. I’m ok with that.

Living in Carrollton all of my life I havent seen a good Late Feb or March snowstorm since March 1993 ! Usually the late winter storms are those stupid ULL's that bring hit or miss snows. Didnt get much of anything in March 09 or 10. And nothing in Late Feb 15.

True March isn’t common but I feel like the pattern is great if we still have cold around. February is my favorite because we ATL does great and February storms tend to give me more snow.

Just watched. Surprised even he is calling for “30 day” warm period. Going to be rough around for a few weeks.

It’s always a close call in December and Jan is a toss up. Maybe I live to close to Sc and

Today is the 15th and if he and Web are correct and I think they are it’s about a month. That’s why I said if we can survive this warm period we will end Winter feeling very satisfied of the outcome.

I think mid January we will start seeing fantastic fantasy storms one after another. We will be breaking records on this site and in our backyards. As you can tell I’m very optimistic.
