Just classified yesterday. I think this could become a Tropical Cyclone.
I have to wonder if this is going to be very Lee like. The HWRF and HMON are predicting hurricanes and the CMC says at least a good TS. This is assuming it doesn't start falling apart. It has a good rotation to it.
Looks like we have TD17 now. Should get a name soon as well.
HMON going nuts to a major hurricane again, while the HWRF has a cat 1. Either way, if at least the HWRF is right, the streak continues. This one looks like it is going to be out there awhile.
Up to a 40 mph 1008mb tropical storm now expected to carry the hurricane streak.
I swear this is a hurricane now, but the NHC says the Dvorak is too high and the ASCATT is too low. Looks like a decent cyclone though a bit ragged. Typical for areas out there.
...OPHELIA BECOMES THE 10TH HURRICANE OF THE 2017 SEASON...
Up to 100 mph 973 mb pressure.
I honestly wound't be surprised if Ophelia became a major hurricane. Will be 105 mph at 11.
Ophelia making a big run at becoming a major... ADT numbers, even w/ cloud top temp biases due to lower tropopause in the subtropical Atlantic, suggest Ophelia is ~110 KT atm, yet the NHC says 85 KT?! Lol...
Will be 100 knots at 11, so we have Major Hurricane Ophelia.
...OPHELIA BECOMES A RARE CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE SOUTH OF THE AZORES... ...THIS IS THE SIXTH MAJOR HURRICANE OF THE 2017 SEASON...
This storm is a major hurricane ~15 degrees east of any previous TC. Like what.
This season has been so crazy.
