Tropical Major Hurricane Iota

Not to downplay the intensity at landfall, which is looking quite scary right now; but, regardless of what it turns out to be, the big story by far will almost certainly turn out to be the flooding rains because this area is normally so susceptible and now this is coming less than 2 weeks after the terrible Eta. Here is the 18Z Euro 3 day rainfall ending at hour 90. It is bad enough as this shows, but it is probably a bit underdone for the heaviest rain/mountains plus there will likely be still more rain soon afterward. Prayers are needed as regards getting the flood and mudslide vulnerable successfully evacuated to safety, which is complicated by COVID:

Madness another rapidly intensifying hurricane for 2020

The greek names now have double the majors that the regular names had lol

...AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT FINDS IOTA HAS RAPIDLY
STRENGTHENED INTO A DANGEROUS CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE...

Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft data indicate that Iota
now has maximum sustained winds of 140 mph (225 km/h) with higher
gusts. The minimum pressure measured by the plane was 935 mb (27.61
inches). The updated intensity will be reflected in the next
advisory which will be issued by 400 AM EST.
 
Based off recon data looks like we we may end up seeing a category 5 upgrade soon. Unreal for mid November.
 
This one (and zeta) will have cleanup efforts ongoing into next year. Rescues through thanksgiving. Consider volunteering through Samaritans purse or a local church. Get the word out as it won’t gain much attention with it missing the United States.
 
Guys, I'm bad at Central America geography. How close is this one going to make landfall to last week's (2 week's??) central america cane?

Down to 10s of miles from what I can tell. Essentially looks just slightly north of the last landfall. High chance the same areas will be hit again. In addition the nhc expects further intensification up to landfall. Expecting 165.
