People are not even getting a year out of the new Tempest. Quality went downhill when they combined with the separate sensors

People are not even getting a year out of the new Tempest. Quality went downhill when they combined with the separate sensors

When did this happen? I bought mine 2 or 3 years ago and its still going.

Resurrecting this again. Any leaders in the clubhouse in 2025? My parents want to get a cheapish one, I figured just an acurite 5n1 would do.

But beyond just one for them, what’s the best right now? Still Davis? Tempest ok?

I got an acurite atlas to compare vs my tempest because I thought the tempest was incorrect. So far they are generally within .05 on rain unless its incredibly heavy or really light. Temps warm/cool differently but at the end of the day lows and highs are within 1-2 degrees. The only issue I have with traditional stations is they turn into a bird bathroom and I am cleaning them once every couple of months

Rain never matched the radar estimate and was off by enough for most of the cocorahs reports that I thought maybe it was off. My current tempest hasnt hit 100 in about 3 years while RDU is stacking them up that made me wonder if it was reading too low

That may change within the next seven days. We're in for quite the warm spell.

I replaced my old Acurite with separate sensors from Ecowitt (similar to Ambient) about three years ago and I'm really enjoying the versatility and range of sensors. I have the temp sensor in a separate shielded enclosure and the wind sensor 12' up on a pole and then the rain sensor in another spot. Also have the soil temperature sensor and the soil moisture sensor.
