At the risk of too many cross-current threads, we're creating this thread as a place to be a catchall for general banter and discussion.

A good example of something that might go here would be:

"Hey, where is that Phil and that Larry guy that used to post here?"

"I don't know."

"I really miss them."

"Oh yeah, they post over at American."

"What's American"?

"Hotdogs and baseball are American."

"No, where Phil and Larry post."

"Oh yeah, that's another website that used to have a lot of posters."

"Oh, ok. Do Phil and Larry like hotdogs?"

"I don't know. What do you like on your hotdogs"?

"Mustard and relish. You"?

"Mustard, chili, and slaw."

"Man, we're really connecting!"

"Yeah, thank goodness for the Banter thread."

Something like that. The Complaining thread was originally designed to be for complaining about the weather or the fact that @Tarheel1 was going to get all the snow after it was modeled for the Southeast. Let's try to use it for that purpose and this for all the other stuff.

Stepped away for awhile. Partly real life stuff, and part nothing wintry going on here for years it seems like. I see the major players are still here.

Random comments:

  • Some of ya'll still hyper focus on MBY details for storms past day 5 instead of looking for just the signal/pattern. Current storm a good example. Weenies.
  • Euro AI sounds like a joke model some intern came up with.
  • Random question--if I post something extremely positive in the complaining thread, would that be considered trolling? ( and perhaps grounds for banning??)
But seriously though, how much for RDU next weekend? 🤷‍♂️😏
 
Would someone please tell me how to include photos with a post? The message says the image is too large to attach.

What's the state of short-range/mesoscale AI guidance? Do many of these AI models have short-range spinoffs? I'm sure it's being explored, but is it as robust as these "globals?"

Some private companies are working on short range/hires/cam AI guidance. Issue is good quality analysis/ground truth like ERA5.. also have to consider grid boundary conditions and what that would look like. Just generally a more complex task than global 0.25deg-0.1deg modeling...

Easiest way you'll have to host it somewhere and then post the link with the URL here and skip the attach files thing all together

I use imgbb usually but there are other sites
