There may have been a thread like this created before but I'm not sure. Out of curiosity, what are your personal favorite winter storms of all time? I know this is going to vary greatly since there are winners and losers in every winter storm. I live in western Raleigh.

For me, it has to be December 26, 2010 and December 9-10, 2018. December 26, 2010 was cool to see since I was only 12 years old at the time and it was close to Christmas. It was also the first time I actually remember getting at least 6" of snow (though there was a few major events before 2003 or so I don't remember them). This most recent storm was fun because it was the earliest I have seen a significant amount of snow and it will give me a chance to see snow on the ground on my birthday for the first time ever. What are your personal favorite winter storms?

Jan 2011 most snow I seen living in Gwinnett. 6" with light glaze of ice on the back end. Shut the city down for a week. Feb 2010 comes in second.

Mine is easily the blizzard of '93. I set my alarm to wake up around 3am and will never forget those big flakes. We had some thundersnow as well which was amazing!

Blizzard of '93. Spent all day with a tow strap & my 4WD pulling folks out of ditches. Fun times.

Blizzard '93 not a contest for me. Over a foot imby. Happen close to my 20th B'day. Early present for me. Had a Blast in it. Lived in Talladega at the time.

1) March 1993
2) December 2017
3) January 1992
4) January 2011
5) January 2002
6) February 2010

These are really the only 4"+ snows I remember in Carrollton. Funny how the 2 biggest snows I've experienced were in December and March. I think the heaviest snow I've ever seen was around 6 or 7am in that January 2002 storm as the back edge of the snow rolled through.

My top 5 experiences:

1. 1/28/14 - Not my biggest snow but the insanity surrounding it. (Rome, GA but my house did get 2 or 3 inches of snow out of it, and it's the last time it's seen more than a dusting, the winter storm that followed was mostly ice as I've said)
2. 2/12/10 - My biggest snow at the time. Teenage me starting a thread for a threat days in advance at the accuweather forums (soon to be defunct) and nailing it.
3. 2/25/15 - This is likely my biggest snow. This was before I left university and came back home, and I remember going out the morning after, just gazing out at the scenery, alone and enjoying it. (Rome, GA)
4. 12/25/10 - The White Christmas that ended up working out great after all. I had so much fun, but with everything surrounding it, it wasn't really that great of a Christmas. I would like to see this storm repeat itself this year, but without anything extra happening.
5. 1/10/11 - Sleet and ice fest after early snow. I didn't appreciate it as much as a teen, but I would love to have a similar storm again.

January 2-3 2002 (First significant snow storm I can remember, other than the January 2000 Icestorm(s))
January 29, 2005 (First time I learned just because white shows up on radar it doesn't always mean snow, sometimes it's sleet and/or freezing rain. Thanks Jim Cantore!)
March 1, 2009 (First time seeing and hearing Thundersnow! Of course this was going to be on the list!)
December 25, 2010 (My first White Christmas! YAY!)
January 9-11, 2011 (My senior year of high school; got a whole week off after just coming back from Christmas Break!:D)
January 28-29, 2014 (Snowjam)

Hmm, funny how 4 out of 6 of my top 6 are in January. I hope January 2019 doesn't disappoint!

Honorable Mentions
February 12, 2010 (This one nearly missed the top 6, what annoyed me about this storm was the amount of hours wasted on virga and it was a quick mover, in and out within 6-7 hours.)
December 8, 2017 (The dreaded changeover, I was seriously getting nervous with this one, but luckily the wait paid off!)

January 2-3, 2002 - Still most beautiful snow I've ever seen
February 12, 2010 - 8.5 inches, most snow I've ever seen, just didn't last very long.
January 24, 2000 - Snow topped by ice, out of school for a week.

Jan 25, 2000...woke up with 20” at my door when I was expecting 0”...out of school for a week for now as an 8th grader was perfect. Not many kids get the opportunity!
