Pattern April Thread

Nice hopefully we can escape the long periods of 100+ degree days .. we used to get them a lot back when I was younger but feel like recently we only really worry about a few days getting to like 100-105 around here
I’m sure these are much better than their 7-14 day outlooks! ???

What I'm wondering though, is were mid-April frosts common in the 1800s, mid-1900s, etc. (meaning one or two per year)? Or has it only now become a thing? Like how the 80s were snowy and the 90s sucked, regardless of what the averages were.
grand solar minimum?? Effects?

I know this isn't the place for the whole global warming debate but that obviously has played a major role in our weather that kinda is making up the new norm vs what we have always been used to. It will be interesting to see if these delayed spring and prolong "winter" type patterns are now just the new norm or are we just in a typical 5-10 year funk. I am not for all the frost and freezes because of the agriculture issues, but below normal through spring at least for the highs is nice. I prefer to keep 60's and low dews around for as long as possible for the inevitable 5 months of hell on earth starts.

Yeah not trying to open pandoras box but there's some argument to be made that GW has some effect on what we are seeing whether or not you believe the globe is going to spontaneously combust

While the 12z GFS still sucks with MLLRs, it’s a bit better then past runs, those low level lapse rates/inverted Vs are favorable for damaging winds F42EA20C-A3FF-4F4B-AA64-5A66FD28F808.png
