Pattern June Gloom

Looks like I'll finish the month at 1.56 unless something magically happens that won't. I think that'll be 9 of the last 10 months with less than 2 inches. 13.6 YTD. Oof
It'll be 1.88 here, 15.27 YTD and a little over 34 going back to July 1 last yr. That's around 14" below normal for that 12 month stretch, but in reality worse than that since July last year was over 6.5". Haven't had a month like that since

Thunderstorms popped up along the Savannah River ~1-1.5 hours ago. They’re moving in a somewhat unusual SE direction and one is about to get going here. Some rain drops just started falling and I hear plenty of thunder.

Edit: It looks like I got ~0.2”.

I keep getting missed by these pop up storms and to be honest, it's beginning to be really irritating for me. This one looks pretty nasty on regular radar (maybe hail?), but I'm not too happy here as I drove through a bit of a mess.

We are somehow currently getting the benefit of rain cooled air even though any rain was probably held to less than 0.10". It's nice and I definitely doubt another mulligan is pulled out this week (low rain chances for a little bit).

Storm about 20 miles south of me giving a pretty neat light show this evening. Dont know about anyone else, but 8-11 PM is probably my favorite time of day to get these summertime thunderstorms. Even if you dont get hit by them directly you can still watch from afar.

GSO sitting at 3.71 for June

RDU sitting at 3.26 for June

Fay sitting at 2.20

Albemarle at 1.73

Sporadic hit and miss. Lot more on the miss side unfortunately. Know Falls Lake and Badin Lake are in terrible shape currently.

The Little Pee Dee and Lumber Rivers both can be crossed easily on foot at every bridge I've passed over recently. Water is maybe ankle deep where there's actually water. Both of those rivers originate in the Sandhills/Upper coastal plain.
