RC, good one lol! But 40 years ago was a great year for Greg despite losing the Masters by one to the come from behind Nicklaus. He was one of my favorites then and throughout much of the 1980s-1990s although I thought Nicklaus’ dramatic coming out of nowhere 1986 Masters win was amazing.

Regarding 2026, thanks for creating this thread! Here are two highlights I mentioned in the 2024 thread:
-Brooks Koepka returned to the PGA Tour from LIV. Does he have much left in the tank? We’ll see!
-Colin Morikawa won at Pebble Beach with a -22. This was his first win since way back in Oct of 2023!

The somewhat uninspired play in the first couple of events from Brooks isn’t even that different from him of old. He has historically been a guy who only seemed to show up for the majors. 9 PGA tour wins, 5 of which are majors - pretty wild stat.
Wow, Shane Lowry was cruising along with a 3 shot lead with only 3 holes to go at Palm Beach. What does he do? For the first time in his career, he gets double bogey on two holes in a row (both due to horrible tee shots way out in the water) and ends up 2 back tied for 2nd! What a choke! Echavarria ended up winning.
I wish he would do that in a Ryder cup.
Gary Woodland is up by a whopping 7 at the Houston Open through 10. This is huge considering the brain lesion he had in 2023 that was quickly removed. This looks to be his first win since he won the US Open in 2019.

There is nothing like being at The Masters for the Par 3 Tournament if you have never been and ever get the chance to go do it!!

Rory and Sam Burns are tied for the lead by 2 at -5 after the 1st rd. There’s no chance of rain for the entire tourney. That should allow the greens get firmer assuming they don’t water them too much. Winds will be lighter than average, however.

Reed within 2 after birdies on 1-3 and Rory bogey on 1! He’s one of my 2 dark horse picks.
We’ve got a totally different ballgame, folks, due to a combo of a rather poor Rory round (+1) and several folks coming from well back due to great rounds. This includes ‘26 Players winner Cam Young, who’s now tied with Rory for 1st after having an amazing -7 today!
Scottie as @broken025 mentioned, also had a -7 and is only 4 back. Five others are within 4, including Lowry, who had a rare ace on 6! Reed had been -3 for the day after the first 3 holes, but gave all 3 back to finish at only -6, 5 back.

Should be fun to watch tomorrow.
Winds are finally picking up. They’re still not high and they won’t get high, but they’re significantly higher than earlier and than all of yesterday while temps have risen to 82 with only 24% RH drying the greens out:
This was as of 11AM, calm winds:

Then at noon as it warmed from 75 to 80, winds increased from calm to 7 mph (from the S) just like the models have been showing and was then already stronger than the winds of yesterday afternoon:

As of 1PM, winds are even higher at 9 mph vs 7 mph at noon and calm at 11AM and they’re still increasing as the temps rise (now up to 82 with RH of only 24%):

This was still another incredibly entertaining Masters and well deserved win for Rory! Today exhibited well one thing that makes the Masters unique among the majors, the importance of creativity due largely to the undulations of the course. Bobby Jones had this in mind.

I'm a big Masters fan but, I have to agree with my father on this one. This Masters was mostly uneventful. No big charges or big shots after Rory's chip-in on Friday. Ok, Lowery's hole in one was eventful however, even that didn't help him get close to Rory. I'd say the action shots from the pine straw was missing. Henley, and the group couldn't seem to get passed 10 under and Rory who made mistakes to drop to 9 under seem to have enough time to climb out of the hole he was in. This will be a big victory for Rory and to win back to back Masters is rare. Scottie even seemed off after being listed as the #1 player in the world. He just couldn't sink those important putts. Rory now sits beside Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods and I guess he deserves it after what he went thru in 2011. However, I think what happened in 2011 helped him keep his head on for this years Masters! GaWx I agree with you the greens didn't get tough until Sunday. When you play the Masters you're not suppose to be able to throw darts at the pin! That's not the Masters! Rory had 3 of the 4 requirements to win the Masters.
1 keep your head on straight.
2 your short game has to be ace.
3 you have be be able to putt on those greens.
4 you have to be able to drive the ball in the fairway.
Rory replaced 4 with a 5th!
5 you have to be able to hit the ball out of trouble no matter where the ball lands.

Golf today:
1. The ageless Bernard Langer, the oldest player in the field, once again shot below his age with an amazing 66 (-6) to tie for the lead in the Senior PGA!
2. Heritage: Aberg is leading after a beautiful -8 (63), only two off the record 61. Scottie, who won in 2024, was -3.

Former winner Scottie Scheffler had a beautiful 64 today at Hilton Head, another great rd 3 or 4! He continues to start slow and come back on the weekends. He moved into 2nd, 3 behind another former winner, Matt Fitzpatrick who’s having a very good year so far.
Edit: Brian Harman, originally from SAV, had the best rd of the day and his best Heritage rd ever, a 63! He’s got a chance bring only 4 back. This course is the shortest on Tour for a par 71 and short hitters like Harman have a decent chance to do well. This is a shoot at your target course, not a shoot it as far as possible course. Too long can hurt badly!

Cam Young’s greatness through rd 3 made today’s final rd at the Doral Signature event sort of boring although it was still fun to watch his great play and also to see Scottie battle to get 2nd. Due to anticipated thunderstorms, they had planned a very early start along with split tees. But they had a 2 hour thunderstorm delay of the early start this morning to 9:30AM.
Cam and Matt are playing great now. Scottie may be playing the best in just rounds 3 and 4, alone though. He’s finished 2nd in his last 3 tourneys!

Jordan sure has been struggling in general for the last few years. So, that would be quite the unexpected turn for him!
The PGA Championship is in the Philadelphia area for those who don’t know. It was last there way back in 1962! Until a few years ago it had been the final major of the year for decades.
