Observations Early 2019 S/E Heatwave Duration Record

The high today looks to be 93*F here and at ATL.

Correction - 94*F at ATL (1 degree off the record high).

Another correction - Make that 94*F at ATL and here.

There's a little bit of good news here. The last 7 GFS runs ending with today's 12Z had a high of 98 at KSAV. The actual high today was 96. So, even the GFS, which has generally been not quite as hot as the Euro, was 2 F too warm today. Hopefully, that's a sign that the even hotter Euro can be thrown out due to too low dewpoints per a met I read. Nevertheless, the latest GFS still has hottest highs at KSAV at 100-103 the next 7 days. Even after taking 2 F away, the implication is that it is going to be quite difficult to not hit 100 on several days upcoming. So, I expect that to occur. Let's see what happens.

At least here, the GFS and HRRR were right on the mark.

Tomorrow looks rough.

It's been hot, but the evenings have felt pretty good...not like the mid-summer super humid crap.

That will change by late next week as the SW flow kicks in and humidity ramps up.

BTW, for those looking forward to the SER flattening, the 00z GFS was a notable step backwards. In fact, up until 372hr (when a decent cold front seems to finally come through), it's 90s most of the time.

You missed one, Larry ...
99º

Phil, look back. I mentioned GNV's 99 record below the top list. Yes, misery loves co. No walk outside today!
There was at 5:30 but certainly not today or tonight. Planning on spending the day at ChopStix on Bivens Arm tomorrow, looking at the lake and critters from a big air conditioned picture window!

The high today at ATL was 94*F, officially breaking the previous record high of 93*F back in 1996.

Beaufort, SC took top spot with 102° today.
Alma, GA recorded 100°.
Only saving grace is the dewpoints are dropping into the low and mid 60s during peak heating/temps.

Thanks. Also, Albany was 99. As awful as today and the next few days will be, I don’t think we’re going to get those even higher Euro predicted temps.

It really wasnt bad today or yesterday here. It was hot for sure, but the humidity being low made it managable.
