Hey someone else in the NWS haha I got a couple I know elsewhere nowhere near that interesting for winter though...

That area is definitely interesting from what I've seen

I guess we had someone here just get hired at NWS Flagstaff but yeah

Goodbye, old friend. I've enjoyed fantasizing with your digital snows over the years. RIP. 9 PM will never be the same.

Yeah some of my met friends out here are not excited about the NAM going away. It was really good with the shallow arctic air in the winter down in Texas

Time will tell I guess

Same here in the CAD region. I always looked to the NAM for temps within the wedge and for signs of impending warm-nose doom.

This overpass was completed in 2020 and the detention ponds either side have never been dry since. I drive through here 5 days a week and they've always been moderately full to full depending on the season.

I hate it. The nam, especially the 3km always sniffed out elevated warm layers the best and now we have lost that. Not happy about it

That’s me! I’m leaving VA in a couple weeks!

As many of us crawl out summer hibernation to join the winter conversations, can there be a quick recap of the No-Nam plan? What do the new models give us and/or any relevant info?

I know it definitely feels like a real pattern change

Even tomorrow there's a widespread rain event all the sudden. Two days ago there was no rain for weeks

If we can just do that when it's colder.....

That is one advantage to El nino. I don't think there will be a shortage of storms

I was just saying that in the 5 winters I've been here I haven't seen a really dynamic storm yet where we go from like thunderstorms to heavy snow in a few hours like we have before. The overwhelming arctic air snow is always kind of underperforming as I've mentioned before

Storms should be juiced this winter, for sure! We just gotta time it with a good cold shot

Hey guys I’m new to this forum and just joined hope I get a chance to learn from you guys. I’m from Montana and recently moved to Alabama north of Huntsville near the Alabama Tennessee state line. So I know now that being in the south is going to be a different experience for me especially during the winter. But on that note I’m a die hard snow fan and can’t wait to see what mother nature brings this coming winter season

Welcome, I'm right down the road from you in Madison. It does snow here! Not Montana levels, but it's a treat to look forward to and chase.

I would recommend staying home when it does snow/ice here. The roads are absolutely terrible especially all the hilly/mountain areas and you'll slide all over the place. They don't have the infrastructure to treat and plow, so enjoy the mini snowcations when they happen.

Thanks for letting me know that I’m definitely going to be aware and use my snow chains to put around the tires when it do snow.
