I definitely prefer August over July. It's usually a little cooler, plus its close to fall !

August actually is the worst month of the year and it's not even close.
Normally I'd be looking forward to the darker mornings and grass slowing down not needing cutting as often, but this year I've only had to cut it once in July.
No idea how the El Nino will play out but the second half of August is in range of clearing a front through to drop the dew points for a couple days.

I can't believe some kids are going back to school next week.
They're getting decent rain at the beaches today. Unfortunately where I am about 45 minutes west of there's it's bone dry. We've had two days of measurable precipitation in July.
There is a place in Murrells inlet that has the best little corn fritters or hush puppies. Used to love that place.
Drunken Jack's used to be awesome.
I remembered. I’m thinking of Lees Inlet Kitchen. Haven’t been there in 25 years so it may not be around. We went to Ocean Lakes every summer until I was out of college.

It’s still around and yeah I remember the hush puppies were great. Haven’t been there in awhile though. We usually eat out at one of the places facing the inlet.
That one is so crowded, I’ve only been there for lunch.

We used to go to the Admiral's Flagship and just crush the buffet. It's gone and Judy Boone's is there now. It's a good country buffet, but it ain't the seafood smorgasbord that AF was. The Chesapeake House at the north end of Myrtle is amazing as well.

Lee's Inlet Kitchen & Drunken Jack's were the go to places in the early 2000's - both never disappointed but you had to pack your patience - wait times were long, but that is what a bar is for 
My favorite place to eat seafood growing up was Calabash in Brunswick County, not far from Myrtle Beach. Calabash at that time was nothing more than a village of seafood restaurants and my family would always go there when we were on vacation at Ocean Isle.
They're still good. Beck's is where we usually go. I stopped going to any of the SC beaches years ago because everyone is from NY/NJ/PA down there now.
The heat index is the most useless thing. I guess it does create more clicks and views.

The young inventor of the windchill died when he was just 32 but his illness blew in so suddenly he reported feeling like he had never been born.

These mets here are something else. I'm betting heat stroke... 
I’ve never even ridden by a Buccee’s much less visit one. I heard from friends that if you must go the bathroom on the road, this is a must due to how serious they take cleanliness. Maybe that’s why so many stop there and cause bottlenecks? I also heard their BBQ brisket is delish.
Can others here confirm these two things?

Not sure the exit number on I-75 right off, but there’s one in Calhoun. I stopped in once with my parents, caveat is my mom is disabled, and we ended up marching right back out the door. Not sure the exact reason, but probably crowds was the main reason.

I live a couple miles away from that one and if you don't get there before 6am it gets too crowded. The chopped brisket sandwich and cinnamon rolls are worth a visit.
Yes, there’s one near Brunswick off I-95. I haven’t been in that area since it was built. It opened ~1 year ago. Also, one is expected to open off I-95 in Hardeeville, SC, ~2030. That would become the closest to here.
So in discussions with AI today it educated me on there being five difference classes of weather station quality. Class 1 being the best and 5 the worst respectively. KATL and KPDK are both class 5, and KFCC in Peachtree City being 1 or 2. The begs the question why any class 5 station would be used for official readings. I also came across this site from the University of Georgia which has links to weather stations across the state.
