Misc This Means WAR

Why do you post stuff nobody can read?
The image is a public safety notice in Arabic from the Saudi Civil Defense, advising people what to do if they receive an emergency alert from the National Early Warning System.

Translation:

If you receive warning messages from the National Early Warning Platform during emergencies, follow these instructions:

  • Stay calm and follow the official instructions.
  • Go immediately to the nearest safe place (inside a building or an interior room away from windows) and remain there until the danger has passed.
  • Do not leave your home or the building until the threat is over.
  • Stay away from open areas, glass, balconies, and rooftops.
  • If you are outdoors, enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid barrier.
  • Avoid gathering in crowds or stopping to take photos, and stay away from hazardous areas.
  • If you receive the warning while driving, pull over safely away from bridges and tall buildings.
  • If anyone is injured, call the emergency number 911 in the Makkah Region, Madinah Region, and the Eastern Province, or 998 in the rest of the Kingdom.
  • Follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities through official channels.

At the bottom, it lists:

  • 998.gov.sa (Saudi Civil Defense website)
  • @SaudiDCD (their social media handle)

While this is a TACO, the Strait is still blockaded.

I haven’t seen this news anywhere else. Do you have a link to this news from another source?
Of course if true, it’s not something our leaders would want to openly admit obviously and it wouldn’t be surprising. Iran likely knows the US has been low. How could they not?

The problem of low U.S. munitions is what several of us here have been posting here for quite awhile.

The results of this shortage was evident in the latest rounds of strikes where Iran landed a lot more critical hits on bases across the region, and expended much fewer missiles of their own to do so. The advantage the missile protection systems give the US and our allies is only as good as the supply of missiles. The ability to replace these is costly and slow and Iran knows this....its much cheaper to make the drones and rockets they shoot at us than it is to replace the missiles used in THAAD or Patriot systems.

Thanks for posting this. Whereas I have no reason to doubt the numerous inside trades that have been reported throughout this war, this from the Hormuz Letter actually sounds bogus:

BREAKING: A 9-figure Axios-linked insider trader on Hyperliquid just opened a massive oil short position a few hours before the CME open today.

————-
Here’s why this Tweet doesn’t sound right to me:
1. The CME doesn’t open until 6PM ET, which is more than a few hours from even now and even longer from when this was Tweeted.

2. You can’t actually open a position while the market is closed. Now you can place an order to sell in the “pre-open” period, but that’s not til an hour prior to the open (5PM ET).

3. If this Tweet had said a massive short position was opened on Friday before its 5PM ET close, that would have actually made sense and been more believable. Perhaps that actually occurred for all we know. But I’ve seen no actual evidence of that as of now.

I guess you can on Hyperliquid

Thanks for clarifying to me that this is talking about a separate exchange from the CME. Thus I need to take back my claim that that Tweet is bogus as I misinterpreted it.

The CME, which won’t open til 6PM ET and won’t accept orders til 5PM, is what’s recognized for official WTI crude prices. I wasn’t knowledgeable about Hyperliquid. I just read that it trades 24/7 unlike the CME. Interesting. I’ll try to learn more about it. It looks like crude may have started trading on it in Jan of 2026. So, it is new. Technically they aren’t traditional futures but rather are perpetual futures.

It will be interesting to see how far down the CME crude futures will open at 6PM!

More on Hyperliquid crude oil perpetual contracts: note that there was hardly any open interest/volume prior to the Iran War’s start at the end of Feb:

The CME crude futures opened ~$5-6 lower than the Fri close and not too far away from what the new market on the block, Hyperliquid, was showing. But it does appear to me that Hyperliquid fell $1.50 right at 6PM ET, perhaps due to influence from the CME price. They’re currently very close at ~$84.13.

At some point the musical chairs have to stop. Reserves are getting down to the point sales will stop from governments that have been selling from them. Refined products are the bigger issue. East Asian countries especially are in a tough spot. Pearl GTL is still looking to be offline until 2027 at the earliest, that's if the Iranians don't hit it again. Acetone, naphtha and other aromatic compounds are in very short supply worldwide right now.
