Pattern January Joke

Over performing here with the rain. ILM has us around .5” QPF but we’re almost up to an inch now. It’s also highlighting how brown this winter is. The dips into the teens we’ve had every other week seemingly since thanksgiving have knocked all the leaves off and kept the weeds down.

Just like the good 'ol days. I'm looking at you January 1988

That's the one in my lifetime!
I was a senior in HS at this time!
We lived in N GVL county,
We begin to get flurries at 21° @5:30AM
It quickly changed to heavy snow & settled in at 12°.
It snowed heavily till around 6PM.
GSP ended up with almost 15 inches at my house I had multiple measurements at 18 inches.
We were out of school in Gvl county if memory serves 3 to 4 weeks.
I am 6'2 we had snow drifts that I'm sure were over my head.
It was glorious!
Btw for those that posted the Charlie Gertz post from CJ on WYFF,
That was the Charlie said it would storm that he called 2 ¹/² weeks out they ran promos of for years!

Well then... This would be interesting haha

Here on the Beach, cool & Rainy, , hovered around 46F all Day.
Kept up w/reported Weather Here on the Forum,

CONGRATS to those that saw some white stuff!

As I just had Hernia Surgery yesterday, I'm quite sore, plus the medication they gave Me, WHEE!

Picked up about 3/4s of a inch of MUCH NEEDED Precip here on the coast..
Temps staring too drop, 41F currently & clearing..

Been a bit of a rollercoaster here recently, We dropped to 43F Friday morning, this morning was in the 80's with mid-70's dew points but it's expected to drop into the 40's tonight. Spring like weather for you folks way up north.

HEADS UP!
Skies have cleared and had to break into my car lol. You early birds better thaw it and dry it out tonight, save you 20 mins.
Should be mega frost, but our chief hasnt issued any watches, warnings yet.
Typically cold rain is a good precursor to mega frosts but there may be just enough caa, wind, and dew point depressions we don't go full mega frost. I'm interested to see how it turns out tomorrow

I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery. Be careful with that pain medication!

Starting to get some fairly thick fog here with a temp already down to 32.

Anyone else get a flash freeze? Fort Mill, SC (CLT suburb) evidently had it. Walked the dog and black ice is in patches everywhere. Odd circumstance considering how long ago storm passed. Thought wind and sun would have baked it off. Maybe a quick freezing fog or shower? Missed it.

Morning low of 25.2 and a frozen tundra, all that rain refroze on the trees, cars, and a little black ice on the roads as if we had an ice storm. We’ll probably end up with the real McCoy this weekend.

That look is ridonkulous, and to your point very similar H5 to my favorite storms. Look at that -NAO, the N/S stretch of the PV north of of Maine. And it looks like the STJ is still going. Perhaps this is the one where we snow, and we sacrifice this weekend to IP/ZR.

Edit to say, this was the original timeframe we were looking at for an actual storm I think a few days ago, and the 25th kinda popped up and stole the attention. This 29th/30th timeframe still looks great.
