Woah ... thats a huge storm for the midsouth . Freezing rain, sleet and snow. The kitchen sink . Good trends sonar
i really have no idea what to take of this, all the models are showing divergent trends. anyway this is why i've been screaming for a weaker, less robust shortwave out west all weak lol. imagine if we can speed it up a few more ticks

We're actually getting some pretty good consensus since 18z. The latest Euro AI/graphcast/ICON/GFS all have similar interaction and results. Timing is near identical on all of them too.

Just took a bit of stumbling in the dark, but hopefully the light is near. We just need more models to catch on and see the same.

In SC this looks a lot like 2022, except we get ice instead of sleet after the change. We need this to trend 30 miles south and 1-2 degrees colder for my area.
00Z GFS took the surface low from 997 to 974 in 12 hours. This could have been even bigger.

Just food for though, but It’s funny because kicking out the Baja wave with this setup might influence another one down the line. A more phased/amped storm with this setup will be more willing to suppress the height field behind it

I think the Ukmet is cooking too. Definitely has some interaction with the cut off and the trough looks healthy and digging deep/west at hr144.
That kind of rapid maturation can cause some crazy mesoscale snow effects.. enhanced frontogenesis, deformation banding, etc..

Wish we could get rid of the lakes low.
The pig isn't going to stay in the mud. It's coming out. Hopefully, this is the start of that trend in the modeling.
