Tropical Maria Banter

And let's try to keep met bashing to a minimum even in here.... please. That includes the bashing of metwannabe's

Folks,
FWIW ... now that power is back and trees are off the power lines both IMBY and at my office, I'm trying to put an office back together. So, when time permits I'm peeking in. There has been a lot of good material today. Thanks all who are contributing and making it easy to keep abreast. Please,
Carry on!
Best!
Phil

Most models lead where?

someplace that'll probably be different tomorrow ... though in all seriousness, the steering currents look strong and it would take an abrupt change in something to alter them dramatically short term, anyway ...

I sure hope the US helps Puerto Rico like they've been helping FL and TX. After all, Puerto Ricans are US Citizens and deserve just as much of our attention as FL and TX.

Here's a challenge then -
We have 820 members -
What if each of us put $10.00 in to a pot and Storm gets it to folks who need it (Red Cross?)?
That would be $8,200 to start ... anyone on Staff want to get it going?

I'm wondering if that method of donation would be tax deductible. Donating directly to the Red Cross is tax deductible.

Couldn't decide between regular banter or Maria banter, so I went to the tropical board.
Today is the 25th anniversary of Cat 4 Hurricane Iniki going over Kaua’i in Hawaii. And after the storm, the great Ted Fujita went out and mapped what happened. This is his beautiful piece of art (and a great example of why I tolerate Twitter):

Satellite before/after images of Puerto Rico and neighboring islands. Surprising amount of light considering power is out for the entire island. I'm guessing generators are providing the light?

Edit: What's obviously missing in the "after" image is St. Croix. They truly must have zero power (or generators) on the entire island.
